Screeds and sub-bases
PI 2000 creates screeds for the construction of floorings, for solving the problems of thermal insulation and noise, and to isolate all types of floors.

Insulation substrates with lightened mixtures
The substrates are used as an intermediate layer between the slab and the final screed to achieve thicknesses with low static load (from 400 to 650 kg / m3) and for increasing the thermal insulation characteristics. The use of thicknesses range from 5 to 20 cm, thus allowing to equalize the unevenness on the floor itself in such a way that the next screed has a uniform thickness.
The execution of the covering package has always been one of the most important points of the construction of a building that must be insulated to ensure the habitability of the floors below.
The cover should also be capable of forming the gradients necessary for the disposal of rainwater, must ultimately be impermeable to water and permeable to water vapor in order to avoid the formation of condensate.
Foundations in cellular concrete lightened with foam
The insulation realization is usually performed through the use of light-based aggregating concrete, devoid of crystalline materials (sand) consisting of polystyrene, cement, water and additives.
The mixture is prepared using virgin polystyrene beads, mixed with water and cement in a variable percentage in relation to the specific needs and pumped directly at the construction site thanks to its own equipment.
This material has many advantages; it is unalterable over time, it is a perfect thermal and acoustic insulation, it is fireproof, it has a high resistance to compression, it adapts to every bottom filling gap, and above all, it is lightweight and inexpensive with very short production times.
It can be supplied with specific weights of 300 to 500 Kg./mc; it comes and given on site by specialized workers.
Foundations based on expanded clay or perlite
The clay-based or expanded perlite substrates have excellent thermal and acoustic characteristics in addition to being lightweight and natural.
Even the expanded clay has several advantages: it is a lightweight aggregate and it optimizes the relationship between weight and strength, it is a thermal insulator which does not deteriorate over time, it is compact and undeformable, its structure allows a good noise insulation, it is easily workable and it binds well with cement.
Applications of the base
The compounds made from concrete or clay have different applications:
- underlay for floors;
- thermal insulation of floors and sloping roofs (max 2%);
- inter-spaces fills;
- insulating screed on any type of slab (traditional, prefabricated, in corrugated sheet).
Screed for laying the floor
Screed is the part of the construction that allows to realize the posing plans in interior and exterior environments; the compound is studied and designed to ensure maximum strength and flatness of the surface on which it will be subsequently laid the requested flooring (glue ceramic, wood, linoleum, etc…).
The traditional screed is composed of sand, cement, aggregates and additives which are suitably calculated to achieve thickness and composition required; this semi-dry mixture is then pumped to the floor with specific machines for screeds (Turbosol).
The optimum thicknesses of use vary from 3 to 5 cm from the radiant tube and the laying is carried out after the formation of leveled bands, pulled to the straightedge and then floated with steel disc mechanical machine.
It is possible to make an accelerated hardening screed consisting of sand and premixed chemical that allows an early maturing.
The use of electrically drowned networks and / or the use of synthetic fibers inside the mixture improve the consistency while specific mixed compounds increase both thermal and acoustic insulation.
Self-leveling screeds
Self-leveling screeds are used as an underlay, for minimum thicknesses in indoor environments and for leveling uneven surfaces horizontally.
It is possible to divide them into two major categories: cement-based or anhydrite-based.
The substantial difference is obviously the raw material but also a tendentiously superior conductivity as regards anhydrite. With the latter finally it is not necessary the use of welded mesh reinforcement of self-leveling screeds, often unsightly when reported in the floor.
Self-leveling concrete
The concrete leveling floor screeds are used for leveling uneven surfaces horizontally and when you want to achieve drying times such as to allow a rapid installation of wooden flooring, vinyl, linoleum, carpet, ceramic tiles, etc…
It is particularly suitable for supermarkets, schools, gyms, offices, warehouses and more generally for large interior surfaces, in housing and in services.
Self-leveling anhydrite
The self-leveling anhydride base allows to realize perfectly horizontal planes with a great speed of execution, a quick walkability, a continuous realization without joints also for large surfaces. Its self-leveling and anti withdrawal characteristics are due to the mixture of binders, inert at controlled granulometry and natural additives.
- It is ideal of thermo-acoustic insulation systems
- It is natural, non-toxic, flame retardant
- It protects the underlying structures receiving the laying of floors
Three processes, one purpose
Insulation. Background screed. Self-leveling.
Three other direct processing to create the basis for any type of civil and industrial paving.
The extreme professionalism and experience gained in over 20 years of flooring ensures the best choice of the type of processing, the mixture of the selected materials and the use of specific machinery to deal with each different problem.
